Short answer
Search for the name on our domain page, add the .co.za to your cart and pay by card or bank transfer. No documents are needed, and the domain is usually active within minutes of payment. A .co.za costs R 150 for the first year.
A .co.za domain is the address most South African businesses use, and anyone can register one: companies, sole traders, startups and individuals. The extension is run by ZACR, the South African domain registry.
Step by step
- Search for your name on our domain registration page. Try short, easy-to-spell names that match your business.
- Add the .co.za to your cart. If it’s taken, the search suggests other extensions such as .africa or .com.
- Create your client account with your name, phone number and email. Use details you keep up to date: they become the domain’s contact details.
- Pay by card or bank transfer. Card payments go through at once, so the domain is registered straight away.
- Point it at your website and email. Add web hosting or business email and the domain is set up for you.
What it costs
A .co.za domain costs R 150 for the first year and R 225 a year to renew. See the .co.za domain page for details, or get a domain free for the first year with any hosting plan except Starter.
Tips before you buy
- Register the .co.za and the .com of your name together if both are free, so nobody else can take the other one.
- Turn on auto-renew in the client area so the domain never expires by accident.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers that are hard to say over the phone.
