Short answer
.co.za is the address South Africans know and trust for local businesses. .africa suits brands that work across the continent or want to show their African roots. Both are run by ZACR and open to anyone; many businesses register both.

When to choose .co.za
South Africans see .co.za on almost every local business website, so it reads straight away as “a South African company”. It’s the safe choice when most of your customers are in South Africa.
When to choose .africa
A .africa address tells visitors your brand works across the continent: useful for pan-African services, tourism, NGOs and exporters. Good names are often still free.
Other South African extensions
ZACR also runs .org.za for non-profits, .net.za for internet businesses, .web.za for personal and community sites, and the city extensions .joburg, .capetown and .durban.
Our advice: register the .co.za of your name, add .africa or .com if you sell beyond South Africa, and point them all to the same website. See prices on the .co.za and .africa pages.
