How do I install WordPress in cPanel?

Updated Hostnali team

Short answer

Log in to cPanel, open Softaculous (or the WordPress Manager), click Install, choose your domain, set the site name and an admin username and password, then click Install. WordPress is ready in about a minute at yourdomain/wp-admin.

Step by step

  1. Log in to cPanel from the Hostnali client area: open your hosting service and click Log in to cPanel.
  2. Open Softaculous Apps Installer (or WordPress Manager by Softaculous) and choose WordPress.
  3. Click Install and fill in:
    • Choose Protocol: https:// (your free SSL is already active).
    • Choose Domain: the domain for this website.
    • In Directory: leave it empty to install on the main domain, not in a folder.
    • Site Name and Description: you can change these later.
    • Admin Username, Password and Email: don’t use “admin”; choose a strong password and an email you check.
  4. Click Install. After about a minute you get the links to your site and its admin area.

Right after installing

  • Log in at yourdomain/wp-admin.
  • Turn on LiteSpeed Cache (Plugins), which is free and makes your site much faster.
  • Choose a light, well-reviewed theme.
  • Delete plugins and themes you don’t use.
  • Under Settings → Permalinks, choose “Post name” for clean addresses.

Tips

  • Use staging in Softaculous to test big changes on a copy first.
  • Daily backups are included, and you can restore them from cPanel.
